Goal for this course

To enable you to work efficiently with sheet metal design in SOLIDWORKS. To give you the knowledge for utilizing the advantages of sheet metal tools for designing sheet metal parts in SOLIDWORKS.

Topics that will be covered

  • Introduction to sheet metal tools

  • Model Sheet Metal parts from scratch using sheet metal tools

  • Converting solids and imported models to sheet metal

  • Machining on a sheet metal model (e.g. cuts and punches)

  • Producing drawings and 2D basis from sheet metal models

  • Modeling sheet metal parts in assembly

Experience required

You should have completed SOLIDWORKS Essentials training and worked in the software with parts and assemblies. 

You should:

• Be well acquainted with the interface

• Understand what sketches and relationships mean

• Be able to create plans

• Understand top down philosophy for assemblies

• Understand how external references work.
